In 2016, David Hall, the founder of NewVistas, decided to experiment building up a NewVistas community in Vermont in the future. At the time, the immediate plan was to acquire and consolidate land near Joseph Smith’s birthplace. Misconceptions about the project, negative press, and politics got in the way of the project, and it was subsequently abandoned.
