Your Address

Share

Every person in NewVistas has one address, unique in the world, read straight from the pattern of the community itself. It runs: name; then five numbers for suite, Unit, Branch, village, and district; then the community’s name; and finally the ordinary postal address of the land — city, county where the postal system uses it, state or province, country, and postal code.

The five numbers

  • Suite — 1 to 30 on its floor.
  • Unit — the residential floor, 1 to 4, counted upward from floor 2.
  • Branch — the apartment building, 1 to 10 within its village, counted from the hub in the direction the breezeway flows.
  • Village — 1 to 96 by mapped location, district k holding villages 4k − 3 to 4k.
  • District — 1 to 24 by mapped location.

The five are written in that order, separated by commas. So 28,3,7,93,24 is suite 28, on the third residential floor, of the seventh apartment building, in village 93, in district 24. The community’s name, unique within its area, follows, and then the postal address of the land on which it stands.

Why it works

Because every suite, floor, building, village, and district is laid out on the same fixed pattern, the address is also a map. Anyone — a delivery pod, a visitor, an emergency responder — can read from the numbers alone exactly where a person lives, and the same numbers identify which floor captain, Branch Presidency, and village council serve that household.
